I changed and prioritised the clothes according to my comfort and needs.
I gave importance to my comfortable wear and at the same time fashionable means.
It is easy to choose and make changes based on our daily needs since am a working woman I had to prioritize my outfit in terms of formal and casual.
Here are some tips you can follow to be stylish and comfortable with your maternity wear.
Comfort your fabric
What do I mean when I say comfort your fabric?
Choose a fabric that is breathable to your skin and at the same time dress according to season.
Wearing clothes that are soft and light-weight makes you feel comfortable during your pregnancy.
And heavy worked stone kurti or layering your clothes with denim jackets can make you feel flushed out.
Pregnancy is a beautiful journey but it also brings about many physical changes that demand comfort and adaptability in dressing style.
During my pregnancy days, I preferred wearing comfortable clothes and uniquely styling them.
So, always go with single-layered fabrics for your dress to make and feel comfortable.
Adding on you need to choose stretchy fabrics to accommodate your growing belly.
The perfect fabric can help you adapt to these changes by providing;
- Breathability to prevent overheating
- Stretchability for accommodating your growing bump
- Softness to avoid irritating sensitive skin
- Durability for extended use.
You can consider the following types of fabrics to make you all of the above factors;
i. Cotton:
Cotton is a natural and breathable fabric that allows air circulation and makes you feel cool and comfortable.
As a thumb rule, it is ideal to wear Cotton fabric during pregnancy and after pregnancy.
It feels soft against the skin and absorbs moisture making it an excellent choice for various maternity clothing items.
ii.Jersey knit:
Jersey knit is a stretchy and soft fabric which makes you feel comfortable and flexible.
It drapes well over your body and is commonly used for maternity tops and dresses.
It is soft and stretchy.
It drapes beautifully, making it a favourite for maternity dresses and t-shirts.
Its flexibility ensures it grows with you without losing shape.
The fabric’s natural give provides unrestricted movement, which is essential during pregnancy.
Additionally, its lightweight nature makes it ideal for layering, allowing moms-to-be to adjust easily to temperature changes.
iii. Spandex or Lycra blends:
Adding a percentage of Spandex or Lycra fabric in maternity clothing will bring a bit of stretching.
And it ensures a comfortable fit that can accommodate your growing belly.
But in summer this type of fabric is not recommended for comfort.
iv. Rayon:
You can try modal fabric, a Rayon fabric made from beech tree fibers.
It is best used for softness, breathability and moisture-viking properties.
It is a great choice for maternity sleepwear, Causal outfits and loungewear.
Some of the collections I liked are listed below from Amazon.
v. Bamboo fabric:
It is an eco-friendly, soft and breathable fabric.
You can include this in your wardrobe since it has natural moisture-wicking and antibacterial properties.

Other fabric options include Chiffon, knit fabrics, Tensel, and Breathable blends. You can choose any of these fabrics that make you feel comfortable.
